ICC World Cup 2011 Final Highlights: arch rivals Germany and Spain go head to head with a final score of 1-1. Watch this match which ended with both teams getting their hands on the trophy! The semifinal between Spain and Germany was an intense and intriguing game. The two nations had met before in this very spot, but only one side would manage to win the match. Germany had lost 2-0 to the Spanish in the previous final, bringing about some hurt feelings and some bad blood between these two.The first half of this semifinal turned out to be a very intense defense of possession. Neither side was willing to give up possession entirely, and the defense of both teams did not allow for any easy shots on goal, which made it difficult for either side to score - despite some good opportunities. "La Roja" did manage to get on the board first in this match, however, with a goal from David Villa in only the second minute. Spain would almost score again immediately with a header from Raúl García, but it was deflected just over the bar. Germany's equalizer came from striker Miroslav Klose who managed to score what was his 100th goal for his country. The second half of the game began with Jérôme Boateng subbed on for Germany, and Spain subbing on David Villa for Fernando Torres. Both sides continued to play up until the final ten minutes of the game, both playing great defense and attacking with difficulty. With only 10 minutes left in the game, Germany scored an incredible goal roughly 20 yards out of bounds. Mesut Özil made a cross pass to the box which was headed in by Klose for his second goal of the match. Spain was not done; however; and they fired back with a shot from Xavi Hernández which went off the post. Both sides would go on to play until the final whistle, and with only time for one more attack, Germany got another brilliant goal from Toni Kroos, who volleyed a shot into the upper left corner of the goal with less than two minutes left in regulation. This gave Germany their 3rd goal of the match and ended up as the final score. The final score: Germany 3, Spain 1.
